KEY-CONTROL SYSTEM AIDS IN SOLVING THEFT
Even Fire Can't Stop HandyTrac's Key Usage Information
ATLANTA, GA - October 20, 2006 - As a multifamily owner, you
might think your weekend can't get much worse after a fire breaks out in one of
your communities. But, John Gochberg of TGM Associates will tell you different.
"Not only did we have a fire, but in the chaos that ensued we found out that
someone broke into the office," said Gochberg. "In addition to dealing with the fire
department and insurance company, the police immediately wanted to know who
had access to the property during that time."
The good news is that Gochberg had installed a HandyTrac key-control system
at the community. With the key system in place, Gochberg could easily provide the
police with all of the information they were looking for. The system automatically
records when and who accessed the keys, and if the key had been returned
But Gochberg faced what he thought would be a challenge.
"I knew we had the system and that it had everything the police needed," said
Gochberg. "But, in the past we had used other key systems that were complicated.
I thought I had yet another problem in that I've never even actually pulled a key from
the HandyTrac system by myself, much less pulled reports from the system, not to
mention we didn't have any power on the property because of the fire."
Gochberg called HandyTrac's main phone number and was immediately
instructed on what to do. Capturing the needed historic information involved
disconnecting the system (due to the loss of electricity) and relocating it to another
property for reconnection. Moments later, the HandyTrac customer service technician
walked Gochberg through the process of downloading the key history - tracing the
movement, purpose and individuals involved that the police had requested
information on.
"HandyTrac's system was easy to understand and the customer service - on a
Sunday no less - was fantastic," said Gochberg. "We install HandyTrac key-control
systems on all of our properties now. The system is less expensive, and easy to
upgrade, unlike the competitors who insist that you purchase a new model."
"At present, you will find TGM Associates hard-pressed to use any other
system other than HandyTrac equipment," added Gochberg.
(TGM Associates, headquartered in NYC, owns and manages 101 apartment
properties made up of 27,658 units in 23 states).
